The most common type of construction for moulds utilising softwood as the main carcass with birch plywood being used to line the mould. The mould is treated with up to 3 coats of polyurethane mould varnish to ensure an excellent finish.

As the examples below demonstrate there are few limits to what can be achieved with a timber mould.

This mould was used to create large radial wall units. The two upright parts to this mould form the feet on which the unit would eventually stand.

A precast bridge unit was produced from this mould. A division was used in the mould to produce a unit that was tapered on plan.

This picture represents one half of a mould that would eventually be 19.5m in length. We made this beam mould in its entirety then it was split for transport reasons, we then assembled the mould at the precast manufacturers works.

This twin mould casts two wall unit moulds side by side, the fact that both sides of the units would be seen dictated that the mould be filled on edge.
