Rubber Moulds
When a design for a piece of stonework may run beyond the limits of timber or GRP as acceptable mould making material rubber can be used as an alternative. Below are Some examples of rubber moulds: -
These pictures show a GRP casing and a rubber liner used to create a decorative pilaster capping. The picture of the stonework shows how almost any undercut area can be formed.

Again, this mould comprises of a GRP casing but instead of 1 rubber liner this mould has 5 separate jackets to aid the stripping process. The picture of the finished article demonstrates what can be achieved by using such moulds.
This close up picture shows how the three main materials we use to manufacture moulds can be put to use in 1 mould. A rubber sleeve forms the enrichment around the bottom part of the unit, GRP forms the mould and the removable flutes are made from hardwood.
