CNC Router

We have recently invested in a CNC Router running Mastercam X3 as software which will recieve any major CAD varients. Programmes are written in our CAD office and toolpaths are established and sent directly to the machines post processor, the work is then carried out. The machine has a depth of cut of up to 300 mm and can recieve sheet material upto 3000 X 1220 mm, the machine features a 12 tool auto changer enabling it to change to a different cutting tool as the programme requires.

This is a small feature panel machined from a solid piece of hardwood

This photograph shows a coat of arms, the overall size is approximately 1220 x 2440 and was part of a set of 5 tools that needed to be made, the other 4 being the quarters of the coat of arms.

These were all to be the same size and as the third picture in the sequence shows we cast rubber mats from these tools which were used in the bottom of a timber mould.

As well as aiding tool manufacture for rubber and GRP work the machine is often used in the production of timber moulds particularly where radial or irregular shaped formers are required, this photograph shows a 20 metre radial bridge beam, all radial formers and base plywood for this mould were CNC machined. Although there are only a few examples to view here it is worth remembering that there are few limitations as to what can be achieved.
